In my time with family back home we have made an effort to do some activities as a family. Some activities have had more avid support than others but ultimately we have managed to pull off some all inclusive events. One such event was our first ever annual mini golf tournament, complete with trophies. I was able to pull ahead on the back nine and win! Hence I now posses the ever popular green (well purple?) jacket offered as the prize! Perhaps in another 20 years it will come back in style :-)

My dad and brother are currently gearing up for a backpacking trek later this summer and my mother loves nature walks. Hence we decided to take a family hike as another one of our outings. Thanks to county's forest preserve, the local flora and fauna we had an enjoyable short jaunt through the woods. Dad and Bro got some great backpacking practice in and mom and I displayed our shutterbug tendencies.
So overall coming home has been weird, but mostly a good weird.

Home is definitely one of those places that can carry a rainbow of emotions and connotations depending on who you talk to. Some fear the sheltering of "overbearing" parents, but there's security there, too. I like the way Corrie Ten Boom's father put it when he said that some things are to heavy for a little one to carry and for the moment the child must trust the parent to shoulder the burden. Even when we don't have our folks, God will still be there to shelter us--and isn't it awesome that when the wait is too much for us, we can trust Him to carry the load? Hopefully we can remember that when we don't understand and feel like screaming at God for an answer. How great He is!
