This weekend I went on a church retreat, where we discussed the I AM passages of scripture; places it the bible where God declares things about His character and existence. In one of the study sessions we looked at the enormity of the cosmos and the beauty of astronomical photography. Getting an accurate view of the known universe we can see how truly small and insignificant we are in the vast scheme of things. But also knowing how big and powerful the universe is we can also see a glimpse of our creator. Knowing that He formed all we see we can be awed knowing that he is even greater that the enormity and complexity of the universe. And then seeing His sacrifice as Christ came to live among us is simply mind blowing. Why would a God great enough to create the wonders of planets, solar systems, galaxies and everything stoop to such a level for specks of dust like us? It is good that God is God and we are not, because honestly we are not so generous, giving, and loving.
