Roadrunner Nemesis

I have been reading the humorous book above, that I received for Christmas. Among it's many witty and satirical observations, it points out that most geniuses have some revolutionary thought or discover an earth shattering principle. So for those of us who are not born geniuses, or have genus thrust upon us, the book suggests practicing; making up principles for the heck of it. The theory being, that if you create thousands of principles one of them might be worth a footnote in some historical account.

The Idea though comical, caught my imagination. so here goes.

The Universal Theory of Dynamic Biopoliticemotional Non-Equilibrium

(The book also mentioned the importance of having a fancy and unintelligible title so that it can be called by your name instead. ie Jester's Theory)

Jester's Theory in simple terms states that people are on a constant rollercoaster. Some days we feel on top of the world, on other days we feel in the pits, most days we are somewhere in between. Not going into all the complex details, the application of this principle is that if your at the bottom have hope there is an upturn coming. People have varying degrees of swing (distance from Spock on the emotional scale) but everyone has them to some degree. Understanding this principle helps one to feel some peace of mind in knowing that bad times will pass, and a realization that good times should be appreciated and not taken for granted.

Actually, in retrospect this is probably not my idea at all. Yet, joking aside, I do hope you find the thought encouraging.

I'm sure "Jester's Theory" will make you famous someday!

Actually, there is a very similar "Duality Theory" in psychology. It states that extreme emotions come in pairs of opposites, so if a "high" comes a "low" must follow, or vise versa.

Sorry.
