Today the H's took us on a trip to the coast. Due to som back roads driving it took us a good bit to get there, but the view was well worth the trip. We stopped at flanosomthing and saw a light house and gourgous towering white limestone cliffs. Unfortuately today was the day that my camera battery decided to go kaput. So hopefully CQ will make up for me in the picture department. We walked along the tops of the cliffs and took pictures of the sea. The view reminded me of the opening cliffs in the Silver chair. and I wondered if CS Lewis had gained inspiration from cliffs such as these.
For lunch we continued our trek to Scarborough, where we ate at a small sandwich shop. The city is quite picturesk. Scarborough sits in a large bay on a slope leading down to the sea. As your looking at the village from a distance you can see the houses, churches, and individual shops all stacked up one street behind another. On a clear day it would make a fantastic picture. On our visit it was slightly cloudy but still a great view. The wind on our costal tour was increadable. I dont think I have ever been in such strong constant winds as we encountered from the sea.
In the evening we had dinner with friends of the H's. We had a fantastic dinner and played an intence game of Lord of the Rings Trivia, as well as showing pictures of home. Our hosts really liked our "American" accents, and were impressed that CQ was a real cowboy.
